Dee Pop used to Present THE Freestyle CrEAtiVe MUSIC SERIES Every SUNDAY at
Jimmy's 43 Restaurant
But not any more
Dear all, I knew it was gonna end in a month and half, but now i am truly sad to say the entire Freestyle Jazz Series at Jimmy's was cancelled on me effective immediately. Translation: There is no show this Sunday. Last Sunday was it. I wasn't even there. This is not how i was hoping for it to end. A quick and unexpected death. "he looked great yesterday". It has to do with Fire Marshalls, the NYC Building Department, laws and stuff like that. The series is not being cancelled because Jimmy can't stand saxophones. I'd like to thank Jimmy for all he has done to let me continue this endeavor. My apologies also go out to all that were slated to play in June and to Mario Pavone and Dave Scott who were curating the last shows. I'd also like to thank all the musicians that came to play over the years. I did the best i could for you. I saw quite a few great musicians perform and even became friends with a few. This is what made it all worth the while as for the future. Who knows. There are still plenty of shows out there to see. Go see them. Support your music while its there. Put on your own shows. Any one can do it. All you have to do is make the effort. See you around. The music will live even if they take all the buildings away. Dee Pop
